The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop near the 300 block of Beech St, in the city of Covington. A positive alert from a narcotics K-9 resulted in the suspect leading deputies on a short pursuit through a neighborhood.
The pursuit resulted in the suspect crashing into a house beside his residence on N. Beverly Ave., the suspect then fled on foot into his residence and was immediately followed by law enforcement. A short standoff with the suspect ensued and ended with the suspect being fired upon by law enforcement.
The suspect was treated at the scene by law enforcement and by rescue personnel before being transported to a medical facility. No other law enforcement or civilians sustained any injuries from this incident.
A female who was inside the residence at the time was detained for questioning by investigating agents.
