Patricia “Patty” Cobb Watts
Patricia “Patty” Cobb Watts left us to be with the Lord on January 12, 2024.
She is survived by her son, Darren L. Irvine (Susan) of Springfield and her sister, Phyllis Gibson of Covington. She has four grandchildren, Brett Forbes, Lauren Lee, Kyle Irvine and Trish Dundas who will dearly miss her. She also has six great grandchildren.
Born April 10, 1938 in Covington to Richard and Oleta Cobb, Patty grew up with her sister, Phyllis in Rayon Terrace. She attended schools at Edgemont Elementary and Covington High where she graduated as salutatorian and then received her degree from Radford College.
Patty worked for the Babcock and Wilcox Company while living in Lynchburg and then worked for Westvaco for fifteen years after moving back to Covington.
In 1984, she married Gary B. Watts and continued to reside in Covington. They were married for thirty-five years before Gary passed away in 2019
Patty was a member of Edgemont ARP Church serving as a deacon and choir member. Patty liked cats, flowers, plants and doing yard work.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 20, 2024, from the Chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. James MacDougall officiating.
Pallbearers will be Col. Brett Forbes, Kyle Irvine, Allen Farrar, Rob Gibson, Charles Bradley and Murrell Johnson.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Edgemont Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church, 2306 S. Church Avenue, Covington, VA 24426.
