The Virginia Welcome Center at Covington has 4 new rocking chairs for travelers to use and feel welcomed as they travel into our local community. Virginia Tourism Corporation wanted to make the folks coming into our area feel welcomed into our small mountain town where they can get out of the car for a bit, use their phone or just enjoy the beautiful view of the Alleghany mountains. Four local businesses are credited with donating the rocking chairs, Alleghany County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, Lee Roe with the Rail and the Cat and Owl, Paul Dameron with Paul’s Sport Cards and Cucci’s Pizzeria. Teresa Staton, Tourism Relations Manager says “The chairs have been a big hit this summer and many people have enjoyed them”.
