              David Earl Perdue

              David Earl Perdue, age 75, of 1314 S. Clark Ave, Covington, Virginia and formerly of Gala, Eagle Rock, Virginia died Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.

              David was born July 2, 1948, in Blooming Rose, West Virginia to Mary Kessler Perdue and the late Orvel Don Perdue. He was a retired engineer from Dominion Energy. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Covington, Virginia. His spent his life ministering to folks about God, and working was his only hobby.

              In addition his father, Orvel Perdue, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Rae Sherwood Perdue;  brothers, Don Perdue, Henry Perdue, and Billy Perdue; and a sister, Joyce Turner.

              He is survived by his mother, Mary Perdue of Coal City, WV;  a son, Davie Earl Perdue, Jr. and wife Deborah of Richmond; a daughter, Daphne Dickenson and husband Roy of Eagle Rock;six brothers and sisters, Frances Burke of Coal City, WV, Lester Perdue and wife Carolyn of Coal City, WV, Paul Perdue and wife Norma of Mt. Hope, WV, Delores Norris of Coal City, Emory Perdue and wife Pat of Coal City, WV, and Stephen Perdue and wife Kathy of Coal City; six grandchildren, Christopher K. Tinsley, Kaleigh R. Tinsley, David E. Perdue III,  Regina K. Perdue, Rylie Dickenson, and Wyatt Dickenson, and one great-granddaughter, Sadie Rae Bess; and a number of nieces and nephews.

              A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Dean Bowser officiating.  Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor.  Pallbearers will be Christopher Tinsley, Wyatt Dickenson, David Perdue III, Devan Bess, and Roy Dickenson. The family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon from 12:30 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
