HARRISONBURG – Natalie White began the day by graduating at Bath County high school during the morning of Saturday, June 1st and then proceeded to head to Harrisonburg by the afternoon so she could compete in the Class 1 & 2 state championship meet at the James Madison Track & Field Complex.
White, who had originally qualified for the state meet in both the 800- and 3200-meter runs, was only able to compete in the 800. The 3200 had taken place while graduation was occurring for BCHS. The 3200 was won by Carol-Anne Garrett from Galileo High School with a time of 11:37.34.
The newly senior graduate, White, did make it for the 800 and in her final ever high school race she placed 10th with a time of 2:39.15. Rory Lally from Lancaster High School won the event with a time of 2:26.23.
At the Saturday state championship meet, White was the only runner representing Bath County in the Class 1 state championship meet.
White will now continue with her running career this fall at Radford University.
