Charlotte Lou Painter Rose, age 78, of 924 Park Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany in Low Moor.
She was born February 21, 1942 in Clifton Forge to the late Ivan Lee Painter and Elsie Clark Painter Goodwin.
She was an accounting and payroll clerk for LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany. She was a very active member of Oak Hill Bible Church and a wonderful servant of the Lord. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Russell Smithers, Jr. and two sisters, Doris Long Nicely and Carol Blaker.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Rose of Clifton Forge; three children, Robin Spears and husband Allen of Abingdon, MD, Randall Smithers and wife Brenda of Selma, and Roxanne Smithers Nicely and husband Tony of Clifton Forge; a brother, Daniel Goodwin and wife Sue of Pennsylvania; twelve grandchildren, Sarah Duplan and husband Bernard, Robert Spears II, Laura Spears, Deanna Smithers, Russell Smithers, Cary Tichenor and wife Heather, Sara Tichenor, Miranda Kimberlin, Rachel Smithers, Avery Smithers, Katelynne Nicely, and Alexander Nicely and wife Hollie; seven great grandchildren, Caleb, Connor, Ruby, Nora, Corinne, Isla, and Cameron; a special aunt, Barbara Hoke; a number of nieces and nephews; and her special little dog “Maddie”.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday evening, July 9, 2020 at 7:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Roger Bush and Reverend Mike Simmons officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the home of Roxanne and Tony Nicely, 410 Second Ave, Clifton Forge, VA.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Oak Hill Bible Church, 1601 Chestnut Street, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
