A local resident reported to our agency, that she had received a call from someone stating they were from Medicare. The resident claimed the person on the line, made this not appear to be a scam call, by giving them their medical history, doctor information, and such. The resident did give personal information, based on their conversation.
The resident did contact Medicare, and they had not contacted the resident.
Remember, when in doubt, hang up the phone. Also, do not give out any personal information such as Social Security Number, bank account information, passwords, etc. Lastly, remember not to answer questions with yes answers, as you may not know what you are agreeing to.
Report these types of calls to our agency, or your local law enforcement agency.
