JoAnn Clark Anderson
JoAnn Clark Anderson, age 84, of the Highland House, Clifton Forge and formerly of Longdale Furnace Road, Clifton Forge, died Saturday, August 5, 2022, at the Highland House.
JoAnn was born March 28, 1939, in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Elmer and Pauline Wallace Clark. She was a graduate of Madison College and was a retired teacher from the Alleghany Highlands School System. Since 1971, JoAnn was a member of Temple Baptist Church, where served as the Music Director and Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of the Alleghany Highlands School System and was truly a lady of integrity.
In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Graham Lewis Anderson in 2016, and a stepdaughter, Jennifer Owens.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Cindy Higgins of Clifton Forge; a stepson, Jeff Anderson and wife Penny of Mansfield, GA; a brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Marion Anderson of Iron Gate; four step-grandchildren, Susan Griffith, Dustin Higgins, Rusty Anderson and wife Jamie, and Brad Anderson and wife Alysia; three step great-grandchildren; and a number of cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Bill Hartsfield officiating. Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be Freddie Ambrose, Corbin Anderson, Alan Dale Craft, Earl Anderson, Ray Thacker and John Stone. The family will receive friends on Friday morning from 11:00 AM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
