Frances Mae Gutshall Peery, 89, of Hot Springs, Virginia, passed away Monday, July 20, 2020 at her son’s residence in Hot Springs.
She was born August 22, 1930 in Highland County, Virginia, the daughter of the late George Butler Pinckney Gutshall and Lona Lucille Armstrong Gutshall.
She was married to the late Herman Lewis Peery, Jr. who preceded her in death on January 21, 2017. Mrs. Gutshall worked in the Upper Cascade Pro Shop as a clerk.
She was a member of the Sinking Springs Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed gardening and being with children. She loved bowling and was a member of the Homestead Women’s League. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Peery was an extraordinary cook who loved to prepare meals for her family and friends. She is “famous” for her carrot cakes!
She is survived by two children, Debbie Sparks and husband Harold of Mountain Grove, Ricky Peery & wife Janis of Hot Springs; two grandchildren, Rick Peery and Kellen Peery both of Hot Springs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Danny Peery; 9 brothers and sisters, Christine Spencer, Audrey Gutshall, Glenna Plecker, Burton Gutshall, Edgar Gutshall, Mason Gutshall, Mavis Smith, Gleda Snead and George Gutshall.
A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Union Chapel Cemetery with Reverend Larry Thompson officiating.
