COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Boys Home staff and students have announced the addition of Ash Falireas to their team as a houseparent. Hailing from Louisville, Kentucky, Falireas is currently enrolled at the University of Kentucky, where he is completing his degree online in business finance with a minor in biology.
Falireas discovered his passion for photography over the past 13 years while assisting with pictures at All Saints Episcopal Camp. He was introduced to Boys Home through Executive Chris Director Doyle and fellow houseparent Carter Ramsay.
In addition to his houseparent duties, Falireas served as the head coach for the 2022-2023 junior varsity basketball season. Reflecting on the experience, he said, “I am proud of how well the students played as a team. As the season progressed, each player played better basketball. The season was not about wins or losses for me. I simply wanted them to enjoy the game.”
When asked about lessons learned as a houseparent, Falireas shared, “I have had to learn when to react and when to let small items go with the students. In addition, I have learned the value of time management.” On his days off, Falireas enjoys discovering great food spots, gaming and exploring nearby cities.
Falireas is committed to creating a supportive environment for each student he encounters, helping them develop into young men who positively impact those around them and the local community.
