Veterans Day commemorations will be held throughout the Highlands Wednesday.
In Covington, Curtis A. Smith Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1033 and the Auxiliary will hold a ceremony, beginning at 11 a.m. at the monuments in front of the Alleghany County Courthouse.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Covington Farmers Market.
In Clifton Forge, Burnside-Carpenter VFW Post 4299 will hold its annual ceremony at Veterans Park.
In Bath County, Tom McCraw will be the guest speaker at Wednesday’s Veterans Day ceremony.
McCraw is the mayor of Goshen and a Vietnam War veteran who was instrumental in forming the local Marine Corps League.
In the event of bad weather, the event will be moved next door to the Bath County Historical Society.
