Dorothy Smith Myrick, age 68, of Covington, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.
She was born in Alleghany County on August 17, 1952 to the late Lanier N. and Georgie T. Smith.  She was a loving sister, wife, mother, aunt and friend.
On January 19, 1972, Dorothy married the love of her life, Michael, with whom she spent almost forty-nine wonderful years.  A lifelong resident of the community, Dorothy worked many years with Social Services as well as TAP.  She considered her family her greatest blessing and her contagious smile and laughter will missed by many.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Cortney Giangrandi and husband, Jonathan; a sister, Judy Sluss and husband, Tom; a brother, Chester Smith and wife, Betty, all of Covington; a sister-in-law, Deborah Crews and husband, Kenny of West Jefferson, NC.  She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends to cherish her memory.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alleghany Humane Society in Dorothy’s name.
In accordance with her wishes, her body has been cremated.  Due to COVID-19, there will be no formal services at this time.
Arrangements are being handled by Loving Funeral Home; www.lovingfuneralhome1913.com
