Playing for the first time in nine days, the Covington Cougars (5-2/2-0) defeated the Bath County Chargers (2-7/0-3) 64-53 at the Cougar Den this past Friday night.
The Cougars were led to victory with three players scoring in double figures.
Purcel Turner put together a game-high 16 points in the win for the Cougars, while posting a double-double. Along with 16 points, Turner brought down 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, J’yon Smith added 11, and Hayden Rodgers chipped in with 10 points.
For the Chargers, Jaden Ryder also put together a double-double performance with 11-points and 12 rebounds.
Isaac Gwin was the Charger who led his team in scoring with a team-high 13 points, while Andrew Turner added 12.
Prior to the Cougars win this past Friday, the last time the Cougars were on the ccourt was
December 28th when they lost at home to cross-town rival Alleghany.
The Cougars and Chargers were tied 29-29 at the half.
Both teams were on the court last night. The Chargers hosted Highland, while Cougars were on the road at Eastern Montgomery.
