Flag Burning Ceremony
The Curtis A. Smith Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1033 held a flag-burning ceremony Tuesday night at the post home in Altamont. Protocol dictates that unserviceable American Flags be burned in a dignified manner, with the ashes then buried. Several members were present for Tuesday night’s ceremony. In the picture below Ed Nicely, second from right, places a flag in the barrel while post members, from left, Paul Linkenhoker, Ron Swann and Floyd Lane look on.
