At its meeting on Aug. 9, the Town Council of Clifton Forge voted to accept the invitation from Main Street Baptist Church to conduct a called meeting at the church on Tues., Aug. 23.
The meeting has been set for 7:00 p.m. following the 4-0 vote in the absence of Mayor Jeff Irvine to accept the invitation.
Council also voted to approve the appointment of Dennis McHenry to fill the vacancy on the Planning Commission.
Minutes from the regular July 12, 2022, Council meeting and the July 26, 2022, called Council meeting were approved.
Council also approved the following department reports as written: “Code Enforcement,” “Police Department,” “Public Works,” “Library,” “Water Plant,” “Fire Department” and “Armory.”
Agenda item 11, listed upcoming events as “Rock your Socks Off Amphitheatre, Aug. 13, 2022, Calista Garcia at 5:00 p.m. and Runnin Shine at 7:00 p.m.
Also, listed for the Masonic Amphitheatre on Sept. 10, was Raised on Bluegrass with Bent Mountain Trio taking the stage at 5:00 p.m. and The Whiskey Rebellion following at 7:00 p.m.
Additionally, Great Bowls of Fire was listed for Mountain Gateway Community College, host of Chili Cook-Off and Cornhole Tournament on Sat., Sept. 24, from 1:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. on campus.
