Covington Pays Tribute To Dead
Covington today paid its final tribute to the late President Warren G. Harding, who was laid to rest in his hometown, Marion Ohio. All business houses as well as the manufacturing plants in this city closed today at 3 o’clock, many of the stores not opening again until tomorrow morning, as will nearly all the factories. The Episcopal Church held memorial services this morning, and the Masonic lodge paid their tribute to their deceased brother during the time of the funeral in Marino. Moving-picture houses suspended matinees today, but will give the usual night shows. The local banks suspended business and the post office was closed between the hours of 4 and 5 o’clock.

Charles Cox Loses His Life At Paper Mill
A tragic death occurred in Covington this morning between 1 and 2 o’clock when Charles Edward Cox, 22 years old, lost his life in a tank at the plant of the West Virginia Pulp and paper Company where he was employed. As the young man entered the tank alone, it is not known just what happened, but when discovered by a fellow workman a few minutes later, he was smothered to death by black ash that had caved in upon him. However, it is understood that workmen are not expected to leave the ladders which lead to the tanks and it remains a mystery as to just how young Cox got off the ladder. There was no gas in the tank, according to reports.
