As kids we watched with wonder,
The guy who ran the ball.
Fans roared and cheered with ardor,
When “Big Man” got the call.
He ran with skill and courage.
The defense never knew
If they would be his patsy,
When he came charging through.
He led his team with fervor,
A passion for the game.
Respect earned with his power,
His biggest claim to fame.
We still talk of his glory,
From days of yesteryear.
When “32” came calling,
They paid with mortal fear.
Thank you for the memories,
A price cannot be paid
To compensate the sacrifice
That you have surely made.
Athlete and educator,
Ambassador of goodwill.
Please know that your life’s efforts
Haven’t been for nil.
Benchmark for your fellow man,
We hold this to be true.
Hats go off to you B.C.
We all hold love for you.
