It’s been over a month since the Alleghany Lady Mountaineers (11-2-2) last lost a game.
On Monday night, the Lady Mounties continued such streak following their 4-2 home victory over the Carroll County Cavaliers at Mountaineer Field.
It was just over two weeks ago where these same two teams battled to a double overtime scoreless tie.
Overtime was not needed the second time around between the two teams.
The Lady Mounties set the pace of the game with three first half goals, while the defense for the Lady Mounties shutdown and shutout the Cavaliers in the first half.
The Cavaliers did close the gap in the second half as the team scored a pair of goals, however, it wasn’t enough for them to get back in the game as the Lady Mounties added a second half goal to help secure the teams 11th victory.
Leading the way for the Lady Mounties was senior, Carlee Landford, who scored a game-high two goals. It was the fifth time this season that Landford has put together a multiple goal performance. Lanford, also provided the teams only assist in the win.
Seniors, Ashtyn Bishop and Kinley Eggleston, each provided the team with one goal each. It was the first time in almost two months that Eggleston did not lead the team in goals. The last time that happened was the second game of the season which was a 2-1 loss for the Lady Mounties against Byrd. Meanwhile, Bishop, has now scored in three straight games.
The Lady Mounties recorded five steals, senior Anne Fu and sophomore Breanna Phillips each had two steals, while sophomore, Abby Williams, recorded one steal.
The Lady Mounties as a team made 50% of their shots on goal (4-for-8).
Senior goal keeper, Abby Williams, had three saves for the Lady Mounties.
The regular season wraps up for the Lady Mounties on Thursday as the team hosts the James River (Buchanan) Knights on senior night. On April 25th, the Lady Mounties defeated the Knights 3-1. Eggleston led the way for the team with two goals in the win, while E. Williams recorded 10 saves.
