On March 23, 2022 at approximately 10:50 a.m., Bath County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting an explosive device was in the Dollar General store located in Hot Springs, VA. Bath County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police, Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office, Hot Springs Fire and Rescue, and VDOT all responded to secure the scene, including the handling of evacuations and rerouting traffic. The building and surrounding area were thoroughly searched and cleared by officers and specialized K9 units.
