Bombing Kills 6, Injures 97
A bomb blast sent a huge ball of fire rolling into a
Central Belfast street today and officials reported six
persons killed and 97 others wounded. The dead included
a child and two policemen.
Troop 173 Collects $150 for Flood Victims
Eight members of Boy Scout Troop 173, sponsored by
Hoke’s Chapel Methodist Church, collected $150 for
flood victims of Logan County W.Va. in a door-to-door
campaign March 11 & 12 in the Callaghan, Johnson’s Creek,
Ogle’s Creek and Westwood areas.

County Supervisors Absorb Cherokee Water Complaints
Cherokee area residents are fearful that their drinking water
contains harmful bacteria. A handful of residents from Cherokee
Forest subdivision and Oneida Trail approached the Alleghany
County Board of Supervisors Tuesday night and demanded answers.
They were told to await results from Virginia Department of Health
tests that will be conducted this week.

Little John’s Pizza is the newest business in downtown Clifton
Forge and is owned by Kathy and John Walden. A ribbon cutting
Ceremony was held with members of Clifton Forge City Council,
Clifton Forge Main Street, Clifton Forge Merchants Association
and Alleghany Board of Supervisors attending. The business is
located at 418 E. Ridgeway Street.

DSLCC Celebrates 50th Anniversary
Dabney S. Lancaster Community College celebrated its 50thAnniversary Sunday afternoon with a performance by the 29th Division Band of the Virginia National Guard, a procession led by the Virginia Highlands Pipes and Drums and the dedication of a time capsule marking the opening of the college’s newly renovated library.
Virginia Receives “F” In Corruption Risk
A new report suggests Virginia is at high risk for government corruption.
Virginia received an “F” in the State Integrity Investigation released
Monday, ranking it 47th among all states.
