The Covington Woman’s Club held a reception Thursday, February 17, 2022, for its annual Student Art and Writing Contest. The reception was held at the Alleghany Regional Library in Covington.
Parents, students, teachers, and school administrators attended the reception, which was held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Works by students from Alleghany Public Schools, Covington City Public Schools and Boys Home of Virginia are on display on the first floor of the library through this week.
The display on the library’s main floor was organized by Bonnie Keyser and Jeanie Morrissette, who are both members of the Woman’s Club. The writing contest was organized by club members Debbie Rose and Cindy Helmintoller-Quantz.
Kyle Keyser and Lucille Burkes judged the artwork. Valerie Humphries and Jeanne Smith judged the writing.

The Covington Woman’s Club was organized in 1931 and federated in 1932. The club is dedicated to community involvement through events and projects such as the Student Art and Writing Contest. The club also provides opportunities to strengthen the role of women in the community.
