Mr. William Wallace “Wally” Snead, age 82, of Shallotte, NC went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick, Bolivia, N.C. He was the husband of Mary Leffler Snead.
Mr. Snead was born January 30, 1939, in Nelson County, the son of the late Edgar Willard and Carrie Burgess Smith Snead of Covington.
He graduated from Covington High School in 1957 and served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps for four years. Wally was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was active in Ocean View Baptist Church in Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina. In his spare time, he enjoyed RV’ing and traveling as well as going square dancing. Wally had a love for his family and a special place in his heart for all of his many grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mary Snead of Shallotte, NC, he also leaves behind his three sons, Travis Snead and wife, Carmen of Shallotte, N.C., Scott Myers and wife, Trish, of Swoope, VA and Chris Myers of Covington, VA; a daughter, Kathy Bursey and husband, Johnny of Eagle Rock, VA; one brother, Charles Snead of Covington, VA; two sisters, Barbara Entsminger of Covington, VA and Bonnie Mundy of Clifton Forge, VA; grandchildren, Winter Crance, Brittany Hammock, Alexxis Bursey, Scott Michael Myers, Kelsi Myers, Brianna Myers, Brandi Simmons, Mackenzie Young, Tyler Snead, Maddie Myers, Reese Myers, Wayne Myers, Katie Broughman and Asher Snead; and great-grandchildren, Mason Crance, Maddox Crance, Tesla Dunbar and Kennedy Broughman.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Snead was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Myers; two sisters, Sandra Burch and Lecie Phillips; and two brothers, Larry Snead and Mike Snead; all of Covington.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2021, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Snead, Todd Crance, Wayne Myers, Mason Crance, Paul Meadows and Edward Meadows.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home and at other times, at the home of Chris Myers or Barbara Entsminger.
