Alleghany Highlands Christmas Mother Susan Rollinson recently met the “Golden Girls.”
Rollinson visited the home of Billie Beaudette on Monday, Nov. 1, to meet the women behind the hundreds of pillowcases made each year to support the Christmas Mother program.
Beaudette and Michele Newtown spearhead the group to bring smiles to the folks who receive the pillowcases.
They said the annual project is a labor of love and the pillowcases are carefully chosen to provide for all ages.
Mary Amsa made 230 pillowcases this year — an all-time record for the group. Asma was thanked for her efforts by the Christmas Mother, who said she plans to join the group next year. Ms. Rollins said the efforts of the “Golden Girls” will bring a lot of joy to youngsters throughout the Highlands.
Ladies who assisted with this year’s project are Mary Asma, Laura Kyle, Susan Givens, Dreama Tyree, Brenda Bartocci, Becky Lane, Jenny Haynes, Shirley Brookman, Sandy Kemper, Michele Newtown, Marian Paxton, Valerie Hepler, Pat Hartman and Billie Beaudette.
Ms. Rollinson than everyone who has supported our Christmas Mother in her efforts to bring happiness to local families..
