Last night, the Alleghany Mountaineers varsity football team fell on the road to the Cave Spring Knights 48-8.
The Knights jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter and didn’t look back.
By halftime, the Knights led 34-0.
The loss for the Mountaineers was their second in a row as they fell to 1-2 on the season.
The team was coming off of a heartbreaking overtime loss the week before in the Brackman Cup game against the Covington Cougars.
Next Friday, the Mountaineers return home to Mountaineer Field as they host Staunton River.
We’ll have an in-depth story of the Mountaineers/Knights football game in Tuesday’s edition.
