Today’s Headline: Over $4,000 From County Woll Pool.
The Alleghany County wool pool, which netted 12,271 pounds this spring, was sold this week of James H. Caldwell of Philadelphia.
The 62 farmers who participated in the wool received the sum of $4,537.22, or 36.7 cents per pound for their wool.
A disturbance created at the C&O passenger station in Clifton Forge last night by a woman resulted in her conviction in police court this morning on charges of drunk and disorderly.

Today’s Headline: City Street Nomenclature.
Several changes in existing street names and a few entirely new street names have been approved by city council on first reading at Tuesday’s regular meeting.
The changes require revisions in the city’s existing official street name map which must be made by means of a city ordinance.
Second reading of the ordinance and final passage is scheduled at the July council meeting.

Today’s Headline: Supreme Court Orders Penalty Heading For Frye.
The Virginia Supreme Court Friday ordered a new hearing on the death sentence given Gregory David Frye, who was convicted in Alleghany County Circuit Court in the December 1984 murder of State Police Sgt. James L. Biggs.
The court upheld the capital murder conviction of the prison escapee who had been sentenced to die for the shooting of Biggs on Interstate 64 at the Jerry’s Run exit, near the Virginia-West Virginia border.

Today’s Headline: Interim Bath County Administrator Resigns.
Interim Bath County Administrator Clifford Williams has submitted his resignation to the Bath County Board of Supervisors.
Williams is also resigning as director of emergency communications, emergency services coordinator, Hazmat coordinator and deputy sheriff.
