Janice Lee Nelson, 60, of 5274 Sam Snead Highway, Hot Springs, died Saturday, June 18, 2011, at her residence.
She was born April 1, 1951 in Alleghany County, the daughter of Ralph “Junior” Nelson, Jr. and Ella Williams Nelson.
Ms. Nelson was a 1971 graduate of Bath County High School.
She was formerly employed with the Food Lion Deli in Staunton. She attended Hot Springs Baptist Church and Life Line Ministries. She loved to cook and crochet.
Ms. Nelson is survived by her parents, Junior and Ella Nelson of Hot Springs; a son, Thomas W. Nelson and a granddaughter, Allison Grace Nelson both of Norfolk; a daughter, Monica Leigh Johnson and husband Jimmy of Charlotte, N.C.; three brothers, her “twin brother” James L. Nelson of Goshen, Jackie L. Nelson and wife Phyllis of Grover, North Carolina and Anthony S. Nelson of Elliston, Virginia; a brother-in-law, Jack D. Bogan of Clark, Wyo.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Joanie N. Bogan and a sister-in-law, Brenda Nelson.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday at Lifeline Ministries with the Rev. Lennie Stinnett officiating.
