Maryl Lynn Johnson, 54 of Rupert, W.Va., died at her home Wednesday, June 15, 2011.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Clifton Forge, May 25, 1957. She was the daughter of Mary Lee Meredith Clay of Alderson, W.Va., and the late Richard Jarrett Clay.
She married her best friend, Danny Ray Johnson Sept. 2,2003. He preceded her in death June 7, 2005.
Prior to being employed at the Greenbrier County Board of Education as a custodian, she served as a room attendant at the The Greenbrier Resort for 20 years. Maryl enjoyed camping, gardening, antiquing and spending time with her grandchildren. Maryl Lynn Johnson will be remembered as a good neighbor and a great friend to many people.
Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Melissa Dawn Clay and fiance, Robert Miller of Maxwelton, W.Va., Kristen LaFon Patterson and husband, Justin, of Covington; one son, Joshua Wayne LaFon of Organ Cave. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Lindsey, A’Lhana, Samuel and Joshua WayneIl, mother, Mary Lee Meredith Clay of Alderson; two sisters, Iris Mullins of Las Cruces, N.M., Elaine Sears of Alderson and one brother, Louis Clay of Franklin, N.C.; other very special people in her life were Dan and Diane Clay, David and Margaret Hambrick all of Alderson and Martha and Jerry Petitt of Charleston, W.Va. and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Longanacre Funeral Home, Fairlea, W.Va. Immediately following the visitation, there will be a memorial service with the Rev. Steve Martin officiating.
