Today’s Headline: Sudden Death Of Two Men Furnishes Mystery At Hot Springs.
Fifteen minutes after George Carpenter and Charley Stephenson had been seen apparently in good health in front of a restaurant in Hot Springs, the bodies of the two men were found on the floor in the men’s room at the rear of the restaurant late Saturday afternoon.
Miss Janey McCaughey of Atlanta left today after a visit with her sister, Mrs. T.C. Bales, of Jefferson Street in Clifton Forge.

Today’s Headline: Ready Mix Plant Opens.
The new ready mix concrete plant of W.G. Mathews Jr. Inc. began operations this week at its quarry, five miles south of Low Moor.
Mr. and Mrs. Lester Black of Idlewilde visited Mrs. Black’s sister, Mrs. Murial McConihay, who is a patient in Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Sunday.

“The greatest deterrents to progress in the whole area have been the issues of consolidation and annexation,” Covington City Manager Richard Flora said Friday.
Approximately eight acres of National Forest Land in Low Moor behind the Vepco offices has been damaged in a fire that was reported to the U.S. Forest Service Sunday.
