Today’s Headline: Dr. E.L. Griffith Of Clifton Forge Passes Suddenly.
Dr. Ernest L. Griffith, prominent Clifton Forge physician, died suddenly from a heart attack at 11:40 last night at his home on McCormick St.
Although Dr. Griffith had been in ill health for several months, his death came as a distinct shock to his relatives and life-long associates in the city, as he was able only yesterday to be out.

Today’s Headline: 1,500 Apply For New Plant Work.
The Clifton Forge Chamber of Commerce officials announced this morning that approximately 1,300 women and 250 men have sent in applications for employment in a garment factory which has expressed interest in locating in the Clifton Forge area.
George Edward Bird, son of Mrs. Ruth Bird of 18 Maple Ave., Covington, recently enlisted in Naval Aviation for a period of four years under the High School Graduate Training Program.

Melissa Seldomridge, daughter of Bert and Christy Seldomridge of Callaghan and a rising senior at Alleghany High School, will be one of 40 young people from a four-state area chosen to participate in a Methodist affiliate Youth Chorus Tour.

Grace Brethren Church, 2507 S. Carpenter Dr., Covington, will celebrate its 70th anniversary Sunday.
On June 21, 1936, 52 charter members officially organized what is now known as Grace Brethren Church. The following Sunday, June 28, 1936, was the official dedication of the church.
