Today’s Headline: Clifton Forge Appropriates $800 For Paving Alley.
A resolution providing for the appropriation of $800 to be used in paving the alley east of the C&O Hospital in Clifton Forge was passed by unanimous vote at a special meeting of the city council in city hall yesterday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Roff Burnsworth, who have been guests of Mrs. Martin Martinelli on Lexington Avenue, have returned to their home in Piedmont, W.Va.

Richardson-Vail Furniture Company on Highland Avenue in Covington will hold an open house for area 1961 girl high school graduates Friday night from 7-10 p.m.
Greg Simpson of South Carpenter Drive has returned home after undergoing treatment in the C&O Hospital for a broken arm.

Today’s Headline: Fred Brown To Retire From Chessie Rail System.
After nearly 40 years of serving in various capacities with the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway, Fred Brown, assistant superintendent of operations for the Virginia Division of the Chessie System, has announced his retirement effective June 1.
Richard (Butch) Miller is a patient at Humana St. Luke’s Hospital in Richmond.

Covington City Council has approved, on first reading, a request to rezone lots on East Oak Street for an expanded retail lot at Dresslers of Covington.
Activities are being planned for Douthat State Park this Saturday and May 13.
