Dear Sir,
As many people in the area already know, Carla Hepler Abate, a life long resident of our area, became gravely ill in January of this year.
Carla suffered from blood clots in her lungs and brain, which resulted in her having a stroke and numerous related complications.
Exceeding doctors’ expectations, Carla has survived several surgeries, and continues to improve through her strong faith in God and unwavering support of her family and friends. Carla is currently in a rehabilitation center in Roanoke.
To help offset some of her expenses, a benefit trail ride and cookout was held at Loving’s Cabin on April 30.
This benefit was a success, raising over $1,500 that evening, and a total of over $1,800.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who made donations, family, friends, Bordernier Riding Club and other horse riders, and local residents for attending this function and showing their support. I would also like to thank the local businesses for their generosity: Cucci’s, Dave’s Auto, Mama’s Pizza, Western Sizzlin, Covington Farm & Fuel, Shell, Kmart, Wal-Mart, Heiners, Bartley’s Meat Market, Hardees, and D&J’s Family Restaurant.
A special thanks to Pat Loving, Mark Cline, Sue Hayslett, Mona & Larry Taylor, Meade & Julia Hepler, Angie Huffman, Cindy Keen, Pat Shifflett, Kim Howard, Bobbie Persinger, Joy Robertson, Jackie Neuhs, Roberta Alderman, Muffin Morris, and Southbound Trio for donating time, talents, food, and needed supplies.
I apologize if I have accidentally forgotten someone, but please know that I appreciate everything that was done to help out.
It is truly a blessing to live in an area where people are willing to put their own burdens aside for the good of another person.
Sincerely,
Tangie Dressler
