Today’s Headline: Public May Attend First Meeting Tonight.
The first of four public meetings concerning the proposed second phase of Covington’s school construction will be held at Rivermont School beginning at 7 p.m. tonight.
The Young Homemaker’s Home Demonstration Club met April 13 with Mrs. Meredith Tyree in Parklin Heights. Mrs. Edward Wiley was co-hostess.

The Covington City School Board has approved the elimination of one half-time teaching position and two full-time teaching positions for next year due to declining enrollment.
Ann Tallman and Richard Hastings have been elected to attend the 1986 Governor’s School for the Gifted.

Members of the Sara Rice Pryor Chapter of the United Daughter of the Confederacy and Carpenter’s Battery, Sons of Confederate Veterans, held a memorial service Saturday at the Confederate monument on Main Street.
The 16th annual Kids’ Fishing Day was held Saturday at Boys’ Home.
