Again threatened with flood last night by the steady downpour which began late yesterday and continued until midnight last night, residents were happy to see the rains stop.
Mrs. Ruth Umberger, who teaches in Buchanan schools, is the weekend guest of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. S.T. Godbey on Prospect Street.

Members of Boy Scout Troop 115, Covington’s most recently organized troop, held a father-son supper in the fellowship hall of Granbery Methodist Church.
E.M. Stull of 118 W. Main St., Covington, has returned home after being a patient in the C&O Hospital.

Shirley Renee Hippert, 13, was recently crowned Junior Miss Natural Bridge 1986 during the pageant held at the Natural Bridge Hotel.

Today’s Headline: School Board OKs Rice Appointment.
The Alleghany County School Board voted Monday night appoint J. Keven Rice as director of administrative services. The appointment was approved after the board met in a closed session.
Clifford W. Williams has been named interim administrator in Bath County. Outgoing Administrator Claire Collins announced the appointment Monday.
