In the vicinity of Idlewilde near the old covered bridge on Potts Creek Road, the water is several feet deep and people in that section are using boats to reach their destinations, while all vehicular traffic is being routed by Rich Patch.
Mrs. W.E. Miller of Maple Avenue is spending some time in Roanoke with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Anderson.

Today’s Headline: Dedication Service Sunday At First Christian Church.
The new church building of First Christian Church will be dedicated Sunday afternoon. An open house will follow the dedication service. The Rev. William Sleasman is pastor.
Miss Dale King, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd King, Walnut Street, is a patient in the C&O Hospital for observation.

On February 24, Chesterfield County Police announced the transfer of Alan W. Thompson, formerly of Covington, to fill the position of assistant police coordinator of the Chesterfield County Crime Solvers Program.
William A. Haynes has been transferred from Alleghany Regional Hospital to Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.

Today’s Headline: Covington High School Holds Wellness Fair.
Several local agencies co-sponsored and participated in a wellness fair Thursday at Covington High School, which was held to emphasize and promote healthy living.
An American Red Cross Bloodmobile was held Tuesday at the Family Life Center in Covington. Bill Jonas received his 13-gallon pin during the bloodmobile.
