CLIFTON FORGE – A forum for candidates seeking seats on the Clifton Forge Town Council will be held Wednesday at the Masonic Theatre on Main Street.
The forum is sponsored by the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p. m.
The forum is being sponsored by the chamber in an effort to encourage citizens to become more involved in local government by learning about the issues and positions of each candidates, Teresa Hammond, executive director of the chamber said this week.
The public will be permitted to submit written questions at the forum and a panel of three people will review the questions before they are posed to the candidates.
The moderator will pose the questions and each candidate will have a limited time to respond. At the end of the forum, all candidates will be given three minutes to present statements.
Candidates on the Nov. 2 ballot are Carl D. Brinkley, Don V. Carter, Nellie D. Friel, Gayle S. Hillert and James N. Jimmie Houff.
Three seats will be filled by the election.
Carter, Friel and Houff are currently serving on council.

Questions may also be submitted the night of the forum.
