SALEM. Va. (VR) – Veterans and active-duty service members can receive free meals, store discounts and admission to attractions through Veterans Day offers listed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Veterans Day falls Wednesday, Nov. 11. Most offers require proof of military service, and participation varies by location. The VA advises checking with individual businesses before visiting.

Applebee’s, Bob Evans and Chili’s are listed as offering free meals from select menus on Nov. 11. Those offers are for dine-in customers and require military identification or other accepted proof of service.

Denny’s will offer a free Original Grand Slam from 5 a.m. to noon. Red Robin’s offer includes a free Red’s Big Tavern Burger with bottomless fries, while Red Lobster is listed as providing a free Shrimp & Chips meal to veterans, active-duty personnel and reservists.

Starbucks will provide a free 12-ounce hot or iced brewed coffee to veterans, service members and military spouses at participating stores.

Some offers provide savings for a later visit. Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers will distribute free combo-meal cards Nov. 11 that can be redeemed through Nov. 25.

Retail discounts include 10% off eligible in-store purchases at Food Lion on Nov. 11 with military identification and an MVP card. Tractor Supply’s offer provides verified military members enrolled in its Hometown Heroes program with a 10% discount on Veterans Day.

Kohl’s is listed as offering a 30% in-store discount Nov. 10-11 for military members, veterans and their families with valid identification. Rack Room Shoes will offer a 20% in-store Veterans Day discount to veterans, active-duty personnel and dependents. Exclusions apply.

Great Clips will offer free haircuts to veterans and active-duty service members Nov. 11. Customers getting a haircut that day can also request a free haircut card to give to a veteran. Participating Sport Clips locations will provide free or discounted haircuts.

Several Virginia attractions are included in the VA’s list. Colonial Williamsburg will offer free admission Nov. 6-11 to eligible military personnel, veterans and dependents with identification. Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown will provide free admission Nov. 11 to military members, veterans and up to three immediate family members.

Mount Vernon will offer free admission to veterans and active-duty personnel Nov. 11. Participating Grace for Vets locations will also provide free car washes that day.

The VA’s list was updated Oct. 22. Offers remain subject to change, and eligibility requirements, exclusions and availability differ by business
