COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Covington Lumberjacks Hunter DePriest has been named the Valley League Southern Division Pitcher of the Week following a dominant performance against Waynesboro last Friday.

DePriest tossed seven scoreless innings in a 3-0 Lumberjacks victory. The Alleghany graduate surrendered just one hit, a second-inning single, while striking out eight and issuing one walk.

The honor marks the first weekly league award earned by a Covington player this season.

Through four starts, DePriest owns a 1-1 record with 22 strikeouts over 19.0 innings pitched.
