Arts Council Celebrates Missoula Children’s Theatre 30th Anniversary with Alice In Wonderland

This Saturday, June 14, a tradition continues when the Alleghany Highlands Arts Council presents the Missoula Children’s Theatre. Show times are 11:00 am and 2:00 pm in Curfman Hall, Covington Middle School.

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of introducing the joy of theatre kids in the Alleghany Highlands via the magic of MCT. This production has eleven cast members whose parents were themselves MCT alumni. To celebrate this milestone, an Alumni Reunion Reception will be held between performances in the CM Cafeteria at 12:30 p.m. Any former cast members are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The local cast portraying Alice are Lily Maccentelli (Alice Tall), Penelope Thompson (Alice Medium), and Larkin Lomasney (Alice Small).

Alice Small. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum are Jack Nicely and Price Thompson. The Cheshire Cats are Kaylynn McDavid, Kensi Lomasney, and Kiannah Little. Isaiah Layman will be the Mad Hatter, with Amanda Sanchez-Marenowith as the March Hare,  Gilbert Lomasney as the Door Mouse, and Paisley Brooks in dual roles as the Queen of Hearts and Alice’s sister Margaret.

Other roles are as follows: King of Hearts, Luther O’Mahony; Knave of Hearts,  Shyanne Thornton; and the Cards are Hatcher Lomasney, Mayzlee Wiseman, Abby Wylde, Natalie Armstrong, Aria McNown, Addy Villines, Samantha Armstrong, and Madison Withrow.

Brianna Knicely is the Gryphon with Sawyer Eggleston as the Mock Turtle, and Norah Berberette playing Humpty Dumpty.                                

The flowers are Rose: Maria Rodrigez, Daisy 1: Reagan Wright, Daisy 2: Aubrey Pullin, Tigerlily: Jenna Freeman, Violet: Memphis Markham, and Larkspur: Gwen Halterman. Ensley Creasey is the Caterpillar Head, with the Caterpillar Body portrayed by Emerson White, Morgan O’Meara, and Laura-Rain Maxine Carroll.

Fish is Ellie Mann, and Frog is Lexi Balser. Leah Miller will play the Duchess, and Lincoln Eggleston is the Cook.

The delightful Lobsters are Parley Filips, Pearce Thompson, Everley Brooks, Kendra Wright, Stella Nogueira, Alyssa Walker, Josie Mann, Stella Miller, Hazel Berberette, Harper Smith, Palmer Forman, Mila Nogueira, Dalton Mann, and Conley Dressler. MCT actor/director Alysa Richards will play the White Rabbit, and her colleague, Ray Medina, will direct and run the backstage crew.

Cathy Drummer will once again accompany the performance at the piano.

Doors open Saturday at 10:30 for the 11:00 AM show and 1:30 for the 2:00 PM show. Tickets will be available for sale at the door for $6. Children 5 and under are admitted free of charge.

Missoula Children’s Theatre residencies are sponsored each year by the Arts Council with support from The Alleghany Foundation and the Frances P. Rupert Memorial Scholarship Fund through Foundation for Roanoke Valley.  Cosponsors for the anniversary celebration are Mountain River Reality, B.A. Rupert Real Estate, and Whitetale Properties. Supplemental funding is also provided by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, Alleghany County, the City of Covington, and the Town of Clifton Forge.
