Raymond Allen Heighter
Raymond Allen Heighter, age 88, of Spring Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at his niece’s residence.
He was born October 11, 1936 to the late Phillip M. Heighter, Sr., and Lillian Jones Heighter. He was a clerk for True Value and was a member and dedicated deacon of Main Street Baptist Church, Clifton Forge. Raymond loved to sing in the church choir.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Laurie Dawson; and four brothers, Phillip, Jr., Lorenzo, William James and Irving Berlin.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara JoAnn Brown Heighter of Clifton Forge; special niece who was like a daughter, Natasha Jackson and husband, Bishop of Covington; two great nieces, Averiana Stewart and Zoe Berryman; a great great niece, Iyla Berryman; two special nieces, Sue Carroll and Beneatha Heighter; two special friends, Debbie Peters and Sederia Butler; and a host of other nieces and nephews
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Cornelius Ray officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
