MECHANICSVILLE, Va. (VR) — Kiera Lowman, a 2026 graduate of Alleghany High School, made her college cross country debut Saturday, helping the Richmond Spiders to a third-place finish in the women’s race at the Spider Alumni Open at Pole Green Park.
Lowman finished 11th in the women’s 4K with a time of 14:46.9. Richmond freshman Ella Solorzano led the Spiders, placing fourth in 14:26.7. Lily Strebel finished 12th in 14:49.0, followed by Addie Cohen in 22nd at 15:08.3 and Lydia Shields in 24th at 15:10.0.
Richmond finished with 73 points among 16 teams, trailing William & Mary with 56 and Georgetown with 71.
On the men’s side, senior Eric Scully led Richmond with a 22nd-place finish in the 6K at 19:18.8.
Ryan Gibson finished 29th in 19:32.0, Luke Andresen was 36th in 19:53.6, Bennett Wright placed 39th in 19:57.9 and Carter Bruns finished 41st in 20:01.2.
Richmond will return to competition Sept. 18 at the Virginia Invitational in Charlottesville.
