Obituary: Margaret Keith Anderson

Margaret Keith Anderson, 89 of Bedford, passed away Friday, September 4, 2026 at her residence.  She was born on Tuesday, September 22, 1936  in Fincastle, VA, a daughter of the late Benjamin Keith and Lillian Ageon Keith.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Martin Anderson, her brother, Benjamin Keith, and her daughter-in-law, Debbie Anderson.

 

Margaret graduated from Covington High School in 1954 where she was a cheerleader and played basketball.  She worked at General Electric and later worked as a substitute teacher and also for Weight Watchers.  She was a member of Bedford Baptist Church, the Bedford Lions Club & Bedford Community Christmas Station.

 

She is survived by her sons, Richard M. Anderson, Jr., Michael Keith Anderson, Cory David Anderson; grandsons, Benjamin Anderson (Ashley), Kevin Anderson, Logan Anderson (Tiffany); granddaughters, Kelly Anderson, Jordan Anderson, Ryleigh Anderson; great grandsons, Jeremiah Pinkney, Alister Anderson, Wesley Anderson; great granddaughters, Kyliegh Pinkney, Olivia Anderson, Maelynn Anderson; her brother, David Keith; her sister, Judy Tevault.  

 

Flowers are appreciated or donations may be made in her memory to the National D-Day Memorial Foundation, P. O. Box 77, Bedford, VA 24523.

 

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Bedford Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Khol officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
