COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – James Roger McClung, 71, of Covington, Virginia was sentenced to three mandatory life terms plus 10 years in the penitentiary in Alleghany County Circuit Court on May 19, 2025.
In January, 2025, a jury found McClung guilty of three counts of sodomy of a child under thirteen and two counts of aggravated sexual battery. Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, Lauren Cassel prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Covington Police Department.
The prosecution of this case was also assisted by the Child and Youth Advocacy Center and Child Advocacy Centers of Virginia.
