COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – The Covington Middle School Cougars boys soccer team took to the field Thursday evening with determination and spirit but fell 2-7 in a hard-fought matchup against the visiting John P. Fishwick team.

Despite the loss, there were bright moments for the Cougars, showcasing strong individual efforts and teamwork. Isaiah Humphries opened the scoring for Covington with a composed finish off a smooth assist from Eliot Chung. Later in the match, Humphries returned the favor by setting up Altizer, who capitalized to notch Covington’s second goal of the night.

In goal, Sam Nickell made four crucial saves to keep the Cougars competitive through the first half, while Lucas Tidd-Whiting added another save in the second half, stepping in with effort and energy.

Although the final score favored Fishwick, the Cougars showed flashes of promise and resilience throughout the match.
