Preceding him in death other than his parents was his wife, Ethel Mae Moore Linkous in 1993; a brother, Sherman Ray Linkous; and a grandson; Jedediah James Joseph Ormsbee.

Surviving are five children, James P. (Rebecca) Linkous of Branchland, W.Va., Danny R. (Diane) Linkous of Mooresville, N.C., Teresa G. Krauss of Hazard, Ky., and Cheryl E. Ormsbee of Mufreesboro, Tenn., and Matthew Scott Linkous of Mooresville, N.C., and two brothers, Samuel E. (Shirley) Linkous, and Robert J. (Dianne) Linkous of White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at the White Sulphur Springs Baptist Church on Willow Street, with the Rev. Lewis Brooks officiating.

Visitation will be on Friday evening, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be sent to the White Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Building Fund.
