The Sara Rice Pryor Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy met Nov. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the home of Linda Mayer.
After Thanksgiving dinner, a short meeting was held.
Leah Parez, president, opened the meeting with the ritual and prayer. Pledges to the flags were recited and Dixie sang.
Annie Sink will contact the Clifton Forge Public Library to see if they had received the UDC magazine. The C.P. Jones Memorial Library has received their magazine.
Painting of the crosses by the Sons at Mt. Pleasant was canceled due to rain. Discussion was held on buying crosses for Oakland Church. Crown Hill has Confederate soldiers buried there and members will try to locate them. The long cross at Cedar Hill will be moved to the correct grave.
Members decided to order bars and ribbons in January.
No minutes were read. Gloria O’Neil gave the treasurer’s report. She reported that the memorial for Joan Vess had been sent to the magazine. Annie Sink gave a report on the flower fund.
Discussion was held on replacing the listing of Confederate soldiers at Cedar Hill. Bob Knabenshue will be contacted about the painting of two crosses.
The Christmas dinner will be held at Court Street Restaurant at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 19. Members will bring Christmas readings and ornament exchange.
As there was no more business, the meeting was closed.
