CRAIGSVILLE – Jane Ramsey Baker, 86, of Craigsville, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009.
Mrs. Baker was born July 18, 1923, at Big River in Augusta County, a daughter of the late William P. and Maggie Pearle Eagle Ramsey.
She was a Life Member of the Craigsville Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Women’s Circle. She was a former Primary Sunday school class teacher and was active in the Kids Club of the church. She was a Life Member of the Presbyterian Women of Shenandoah Presbytery. Mrs. Baker was a Charter Member of the Craigsville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Butch Thompson; three sisters, Nita Kivlighan, Grace VanSant, and Anna Rose Ramsey; and two brothers, Guy Ramsey and Walter Ramsey.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Keith F. Baker of Craigsville; two daughters,
Betsy Arritt and her husband, David, of Covington, and Beverly Thompson; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha Webb of Covington and Blanche Fortune of Craigsville; a sister-in-law, Margaret Ramsey of Goshen and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Craigsville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Jan. G. Owen officiating.
Interment will be in the Craigsville Community Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Barry K. Fridley Sr., David Arritt Jr., Eric Thompson, Mark Fridley, Wesley Arritt, Jonathan Arritt, Jacob Wood, and Joshua Wood.
The family will receive their friends this evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Craigsville Presbyterian Church.
The family suggests that donations in Mrs. Baker’s name be made to the Craigsville Presbyterian Church, Craigsville, Va., 24430, or to the Craigsville-Augusta Springs Rescue Squad, Craigsville, Va. 24430.
