Dear Editor,
It has come to my attention through a reliable source that sex trafficking is prevalent in our area. Please watch your children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren carefully.
Middle school children and high school teens are most vulnerable. Children that have low self- esteem or are lonely are prime targets for sex traffickers.
Instruction your loved ones to stay away from social media to meet friends. Social media is a primary venue for sex trafficking. I know it’s hard to believe that something as evil as this could be prevalent in our area. But please take this threat to your children seriously.
I pray that you can convince these young people of the danger of meeting people or sending pictures to strangers on social media. These evil people will tell the youth exactly what they want to hear. They prey on the emotional needs of anyone they can put their hook into.
Sincerely,
Gwen Vess-Whitmore
