Three Cougars named to All-TRD boys soccer teams

LOW MOOR – The Alleghany varsity boys soccer team had a strong season where they finished 7-10 overall and 4-6 in the Three Rivers District at 4-6. 
 
The Cougars run in the VHSL Class 3, Region C tournament was cut short as the 8-seeded Cougars lost to the top overall seed Western Albemarle 12-0.
 
While the season wrapped up for the program, three of their players were selected to the All-Three Rivers District teams.
 
Among those being honored by the TRD included Mason Hale who was the lone AHS soccer player to make it to the first team all-region team.
 
Hale this past season led the Cougars with 14 total goals. 
 
Reaching the all-TRD second team were Dylan Pommert and Brenden Seckner.
 
Glenvar, who had won their second straight state championship recently over Radford, swept the player and coach of the year award categories. Jake Williams and head coach Josh Jones were the award winners.
 

FIRST TEAM: Forwards – Mason Hale (Alleghany), Bryce King, Kian Fisher (Glenvar), Daniel Betancourt (Patrick County), Brody Shull (Radford)Midfielders – Aidan Hylton, Zach Curfiss (Glenvar), Reyli Martinez-Tejeda (Patrick County), Andre Stuart, Enzo Pugliese (Radford).Defenders – Giovanni Lopez (Carroll County), Cooper Mullins, Jake Williams (Glenvar), Drew Edwards, Eli Goff (Radford). Goalie – Grayson Shepherd (Glenvar).

SECOND TEAM: Forwards – Davis Reitzel, William Burnett, Yajaira Ruiz (Carroll County), Josiah Clark (James River), Robert Fuksz (Radford).
Midfielders – Brenden Seckner (Alleghany), Alexis Ruiz, Landon Puckett (Carroll County), Adam Saunders (Glenvar), Reynaldo Quiroz (Patrick County).
Defenders – Dylan Pommer (Alleghany), Alan Vu, Tyler Curfiss (Glenvar), Austin Hylton (Patrick County), Dawson Martin (Radford).
Goalie – Charlie Davis (Radford)
 
PLAYER OF THE YEAR – Jake Williams (Glenvar)
 
COACH OF THE YEAR – Josh Jones (Glenvar)
