HOT SPRINGS – Win number six was in the cards for Bath County as they defeated Narrows 6-3 in a Pioneer District girls tennis match in Hot Springs.
Abbey Phillips, Brooke Hess, and Sophie Ailstock led the way for the Chargers with a pair of wins each in both singles and double matches in the victory over the Green Waves.
In doubles it was a clean sweep for BCHS as the teams of Phillips & Sadie Alphin, Hess & Alyssa DePoppe, and Ailstock & Adrianna Miller all earned the three victories for the Chargers in doubles. Hess & DePoppe and Ailstock & Miller each won close matches separated by only two points.
With a clean sweep in doubles in the books Bath County moved onto singles where they and Narrows tied with three wins a piece.
Phillips, Hess, and Ailstock were the singles winners for the Chargers. In what was the closest singles match Caroline Edwards from Narrows edged DePoppe 9-8 in a tiebreaker.
Narrows did not have a multiple victor in the loss.
