CLIFTON FORGE — After careful consideration, the Clifton Forge Main Street Stars and Stripes Committee is disappointed to announce that it has cancelled its Flag Day program and Fourth of July festivities until next year.
Many contributing factors went into making this difficult decision, Clifton Forge Main Street officials said. The availability of volunteers, comfort level of honorees, current group gathering limits, rising number of COVID-19 cases locally, and overall safety of everyone involved are just some of the factors leading to this difficult decision.
“We will truly miss our special Stars and Stripes activities celebrating the birth of our nation, our independence and most importantly the honoring of local heroes,” said Lisa Jonas, Clifton Forge Main Street office manager. “We feel it is our responsibility first and foremost to put the health and safety of our community above all else. We look forward to future celebrations with you.”
